What is the cost of participating in Odyssey of the Mind?  

In understanding the fee structure for this program it is important that to realize this program is run entirely by volunteers.  The fees charged help to pay for the awards and other expenses of putting on a tournament. Each of the checks are written to a different organization.  Please make note of who the check should be made payable to prior to writing the check.

Creative Competitions, Inc. – Odyssey of the Mind - Link to CCI On-Line Registration

The Odyssey of the Mind membership which you purchase through Creative Competitions Inc. allows you to enter one team per problem per division in competition.  A member may be a school, a recognized community group, or a college or university. The International membership fee is $135.  Each additional membership for the same school or community group is discounted to $100 each.  The check will be made payable to: CCI

With each membership, you receive:

Once you have purchased a membership you will be assigned a membership number.   You will then be invoiced from the California Odyssey of the Mind for $55 per membership.  Wait for your invoice prior to paying this amount.  The check will be made payable to CALOMER and mailed to the treasurer of the organization.  This membership fee from the California program is to cover costs of medals and participation pins for the regional tournament as well as supporting the State tournament.  The state tournament is comprised of the top two teams from each problem and division from each region in the state of California.

Prior to competing at the Regional Tournament both the Creative Competition, Inc.  Membership of $135 and the California Odyssey of the Mind membership fee of $55 must be paid.

Each region charges a fee to cover their tournament costs.  The regional fees are PER TEAM not membership, and are billed by the region.  The check will be made payable to the region you are participating in.  ALL fees must be paid prior to participating in the regional tournament.  Each region in the state has designed their fees to reflect the size of the tournament they will be hosting.  Larger regions often require large tournament sites and therefore cost more to put on.  We have been very careful to keep costs to a minimum in the Capital Gold Region, thanks to your support we are able to provide you a regional tournament at the low price of only $30 per team (not membership) AND have lowered the cost to a primary team to $20.

 Example of Cost to Participate if the Regional Fee is $30 per team.

To enter one team per membership would cost a mere $220 ($135 Membership package + $55 per membership California State Fee + $30 for Regional Fee).  If you add another team it would be $30 more or $250, etc. 

If you exceed the one team per problem per division and have to purchase an additional World Membership the cost would be $100 to CCI plus $55 California State Fee plus regional per team fee.
